Mill Neck Manor To Host Downton Abbey-Themed Tea

millneckmanorAre you a Downton Abbey fan? Or would you simply like to experience a bit of the lifestyle portrayed by the intensely popular PBS series? Then the Mill Neck Family of Organizations has the event for you.

On Sunday, April 27, from 1 – 4 p.m. the Manor hosts a Downton Abbey-themed tea social with author Monica Randall joining to do a presentation.

Held at historic Mill Neck Manor House, a magnificent English Tudor Revival mansion, the afternoon will allow guests to enjoy a taste of Edwardian England right here on Long Island.

Mill Neck Manor House recalls a stately English country home; the perfect setting in which to sip custom-blended teas while sampling curried lobster sandwiches, fresh-made scones and other enticing fare created just for the occasion by Sweet Tomato in Oyster Bay. The afternoon will feature live music by harpist Brandee Younger, an accomplished artist with a repertoire both traditional and non-traditional, a one-on-one “Perfume Experience” with fragrance designer Victoria Collette, Downton Abbey trivia and a selection of period costume accessories provided by Antique Costume & Prop Rental by Nan. Photo ops, anyone?

So, whether you “visit” Downton Abbey enough to know how Lord Grantham is related to Matthew, or are just interested in stepping back in time for an afternoon, consider joining us at the Manor on April 27. Bring your favorite teacup! Mill Neck Manor House is located at 40 Frost Mill Road in Mill Neck, which is between Bayville and Oyster Bay.

Cost is $55 per person with advance reservations required. To register, log on to or call 516-628-4243. Sign language interpreters will be available for guests who are Deaf, provided a request is made in advance. Proceeds from the event benefit the preservation efforts of Mill Neck Manor House.
